I see in Viper/Phil's profile that his hobby is "staying alive", it must be a tough hobby with his attitude {-} {-}

RE: UK Cobra Club Membership

I agree with Mike .
The cobra magazine is excellent ,have a look at the lotus 7 or caterham not a patch on ours.Ok so its not always on time so I have a life with lots of things I can be doing other than waiting at the letterbox. As as for the welcome pack , well it's sad is'ent it what else can I say, life goes on .
Perhaps we have a new volunteer to help ,as he lives so close to the membership secratary .How can one think they have been ripped off, you only have to read on the forum to see exactly what goes on and how happy we all are .

RE: UK Cobra Club Membership

Guys,
I think that you all may have missed something.
"Viper" says in his first post that he joined CRC whilst negotiating purchase of an "AC Cobra".
If he is that rich that he can afford to negotiate the purchase of an "AC Cobra", then why join a chub for us mere mortals that can only afford replicas?
is it me?

RE: UK Cobra Club Membership

Hello everyone

As a new member (hopefully), I too have had problems with membership joining/confirmation etc which has led to me looking on the forum for similar comments. Now having read all the previous posts I now fully understand about the volunteer aspect of the club, and obviously appreciate that the membership cost are lower because of this.

I would like to say that from a new member/outsider's point of view it is difficult to understand why money is accepted so quickly, and in my case 14 days later still appears to be a pending order!. When you are all geared up to get the inside track (pardon the line) on the summer meets & shows, or looking to maybe attend a local meet to find a friendly face when you do attend a show etc, its a bit frustrating. I also would also be looking for the club membership lead to lower insurance premiums which in my case is only a few weeks away so would need confirmation of my membership prior to that.

Nuff said, if CRC can improve it's response time to new members, I wont say another word.

If there are any Cobra devotees out there in the Gwent/Gloucestershire area who feel like touching base or meeting up drop me a mail, I'm always looking for advise!

Great Site, Love the Forum, Can't wait to meet the members...

Tony

Oh One other thing is I have notice is the membership mail address is not accepting mails.:} :tu

Just my 2 pennyworth: When I joined in 2002 my "Welcome" pack didn't arrive for about a month but I didn't pull my hair out ( mainly because I don't have any )

RE: UK Cobra Club Membership

Can't understand what all the fuss is about! As already stated Marion has a massive task to perform (every year) getting out all the membership renewals. A membership card didn't stop me, Posting on the forum, Going along my regional meet and chatting to members, or Chatting to members at shows, Two years before I even joined!! Just get on and enjoy your Cobra. If anyone really feels that they have been ripped off, Please say so now, and I'm sure we could have a whip round for you!! Lifes to short to Winge.

RE: UK Cobra Club Membership

For those of you who really need it spelling out in plain English. The Club does not have an endless supply of cash, I'm sure if we pandered to all these old women, we would all complain there is no money left to put on the events and other stuff. At this time of year all the renewals are due, and as stated before, Marion takes a week off work ( her own personal Holiday )to sort out renewals and new members stuff and has not got time to pander to everyones whims. I doubt she would be too impressed if people start to bombard her with Phone calls to request their membership No's so please don't. When we are so near to having another edition of the club Magazine published why waste money sending out a welcome pack . When you get your Mag your membership number will be on the envelope and the rest will be inside.

It is only a pending order due to the shopping system, it goes as pending, but your money has been debited from your Credit Card, an email has been sent to me and Marion and the process is underway.

The cash is debited by the transaction provider (Worldpay) as soon as you click accept as per any other online or merchant system. We then process the paperwork as soon as possible.

In actual fact, we do not see the cash for some time as the update from worldpay is batched and sent to the club accounts once every month (I think).

I will hack the software to ignore the pending bit.
