Help me identify my cobra!

We have recently picked up a 12 year old cobra replica, and are trying to identify the manufacturer - the only info I can give is the chassis number: c8239209111321s

If anyone recognises the number range, I would be most grateful for any information that could help me.

Deacon

That doesn't help much as chassis numbers on Cobra Replicas are a made up of a mixture of any numbers and letters, try posting a few photos.

RE: Help me identify my cobra!

If you cannot show us photos can you describe your cobra body?
does it have any unusual features such as wide front wheelarches or a raised area between the seats and rollbar (if fitted)?

If not, describe the chassis is it a spaceframe or ladder chassis?

Some older cars had heavy box section main rails, such as Cheetah or Mark Philips etc.

Is it Jag based or other, ie Ford 4 or 5 stud wheel pattern?

Steve.

RE: Help me identify my cobra!

Thanks for all the replies and welcome

I have uploaded a few pics as requested - you can view them here:

http://deacon.imaginet.co.za/pics/accobra

The back end is jag based, and the front end is ford cortina based (apparently that is a weakness I need to sort out?)

If anyone thinks they could help, but needs more detail on any specifics, please just tell me what you need, and I'll get the detail up as quickly as possible. I can also easily add pics of specific areas of the car if the detail in the current pics is insufficient.

Thanks again.

RE: Help me identify my cobra!

Hi deacon,
The only car i know of that used cortina front/jag rear suspension
was cheetah cars made in Ireland(i think) in the mid to late 80s a
friend of mine had one!
Does it have 4" main chassis rails ?
it seemed to be well made with a heavy laid-up fibre glass body and strong chassis, not that many produced as far as im aware.
hope this helps
Steve.

RE: Help me identify my cobra!

Hi,

Looks like an early Viper, due to the front wheel arch. I believe Magnum have a cortina front suspension replacement. Check out

RE: Help me identify my cobra!

Deacon, don't think this is a Viper, whilst the front arches are wide they are the wrong shape. The centre tunnel also looks wrong and the foot-wells under the bonnet. Also I was not aware that Brightwheel ever did a Jaguar / Cortina combination. More likely to be a Cheetah as said. I believe these used half the Jaguar frame / cradle at the rear.

Martin with his post (Getting there slowly) is that not a Cheetah)?

Eric. :tu like the car anyway

RE: Help me identify my cobra!

Hi again,
Just remembered the cheetah had a neat narrow bonnet scoop(like your
photos show)
it used the complete Cortina front cross member and had a peculiar
type of door hinge(a long tube with a single central location) if
memory serves me well!

Steve.

RE: Help me identify my cobra!

Looking at that website address you're in South Africa - that and the rear wheel arch shape makes me think it may well be a KCC venom? Auto transmission is also their weapon of choice.
