| Wheel Balancing Do any of you chaps know of a company capable of balancing Halibrand wheels with the dummy spinners in place. I have had the wheels done without the spinners but they then go out of balance when the spinners are put back on! Any ideas preferably in the south east. Thanks in advance Steve |

| RE: Wheel Balancing I've never heard of anyone having that trouble before. Have you tried rotating the spinner a few degrees and trying it again? You may need to do it several times. If your spinners are the normal 3 spoked ones I would expect them to be quite well balanced especially as they're near the centre of the wheel. http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Wales.gif Kev Davies Dax, 383ci Chevy Stroker, Tremec TKO South Wales

| RE: Wheel Balancing Chris Thanks for the offer, the problem is vibration through the car between 60 and 70ish which then goes away. The wheels come from Image and the spinners are a snug fit into the hole in the wheel and are then held in with grub screws. the problem may have arisen from me drilling indents into the spinner to prevent the gub screw working loose. Any ideas or advice would be very much appreciated Steve |

| RE: Wheel Balancing This may seem like a daft suggestion (and it may be, I'm not very techy!) But is it possible to try driving at 70 without the spinners on? Have you tried the spinners on different wheels (IE left on right, front on back etc)? Paul

| RE: Wheel Balancing Steve, I was never totally happy with the balancing of my Image halibrands. Last year I sent my wheels (with tyres) down to Image when I discovered that the wheel offsets weren't what I thought they where. After they adjusted the offsets they balanced the wheels, the difference is night and day. I phoned up to ask about it and they said they have a special balancing machine for balancing three piece wheels. They reckoned your average tyre shop would not be able to balance them properly as all the weight is in the center which normal balncing equipment can't deal with. Alex |

| RE: Wheel Balancing Steve, I have an 'On Car' wheel balancer that I purchased on ebay. In fact I have 2, but one of them is 3-phase which is a bit of a pain to use on single phase! Once I get it going properly you are more than welcome to come over and use it. I purchased it as the normal off-car balancing doesnt seem to give me a good enough balance - especially if you are not willing to put weights on the outside of the wheel, and I suufer pretty bad vibration from 65-80 mph. Being on-car it will balance the whole rotating mass, and can deal with static and dynamic out-of-balance (according to the manual). Hopefully can catch up either at Detling or the next Kent Coast meet. Regards, Tim.

| RE: Wheel Balancing Steve It definately sounds like a balance problem in that it comes in at 60 and you can drive through it. I would seriously not think that mearly drilling indents in the spinners would have made any significant difference, as they are to close to the centre to cause a problem. When you say the vibration is "through the car", is it, through the steering wheel or through your seat (bum)? The later would indicate a rear wheel imbalance. Tims offer of On Car balancing would cure the problem, until you next take the wheels off. But not possible on the rear wheels. My offer still stands FOC 24/7 as we work from home, I have the latest balancer on the van which can balance down to 1 gram in any one of 7 plane combinations. Cheers
