Car Valuation

Hi,

I've been asked for an independant valuation of my car
by the insurance.

Although I bought it from Hallmark and have an invoice
this is not enough apparently, and they can't value it
ether becouse they are not independant since they sold it me.

Any suggestions?

I was also told that an official member of CRC is acceptable
(IE secretery etc)

Anyone who has a bit of spare time in Loughborough area?

Thanks for any help

Paul

PS Agent is Adrian Flux

Thunder Road Cars (Cheng Lim) or Hallmark would be able to provide a valuation.

Unfortunately, the CRC can't provide a valuation.

RE: Car Valuation

Hi Again Robert,

I was just looking in the Directory an noticed PD Developments which seemed ideal for what I want (I can even get it on a rolling road )

But then I just remembered that I'm sure I saw somewhere that they are no longer in business, would you know if thats true? :}

Thanks

Paul

RE: Car Valuation

Paul

I used my local Vauxhall Dealers to value my Cobra, just told them the value I wanted. That was for Backford Bloor.

I have been told by a very reliable source that the Adrian Flux agreed valuation policy, is not a guaranteed valuation, they will agree a value but they will not pay out that amount if you ever have a total loss.

Backford Bloor give you a certificate to confirm they will pay the agreed amount.

My source might be wrong, but I would advise checking the policy in depth before you buy.

RE: Car Valuation

Hi Mike

Why does that not supprise me about Adrian Flux :}

They want me to jump through hoops to get a valuation then only pay what they feel like! :v

I guess I need to remember that Adrian Flux are only an agent though, and the actual requirements as well as what the pay out on total loss is down to the actual insurance company.

They seemed fine last year on my Sumo so I just changed the car over when I bought the new one. I then just renewed the insurance.

Ho Hum, Guess that will teach me for getting an odd car (IE ANY kit car!!!) :}

I just thought B@~*&?x to Adrian Flux and cancelled it!x(

Talked to Backford Bloor and they will accept the Invoice as proof of value.

Did you check the policy details with Adrian Flux regarding agreed value and guaranteed value, as it would be helpful to other members as to whether they are pulling a fast one.

RE: Car Valuation

I'll have a look,

They didn't make such a big thing with the Sumo but I guess thats becouse there are a lot of Sumos with Rover engines about.

Its likly that if I had written the Sumo off they would have looked up the current going rate for RV8 Sumos and paid me that and not the amount I'd stated.

They were probably being a pain this time becouse there are not many Metalines around.

My conclusion:

Adrian Flux are probably fine if you have a typical example of a popular make (EG Dax with Chevy, Pilgrim with Rover) since they can find similar examples. I wouldn't suggest using them though if you have a souped up Dax for example (IE chevy giving 400+bhp, profesional lined cabin etc) or even a souped up Pilgrim with a hot rover engine. You may find you only get back the current average value of that type of car if you write it off.
