BFGoodrich Tyres

Hi Folks,

I currently have BFGoodrich T/A tyres all round on my 1993 Dax Cobra, 215/60/16 on the front and 235/60/16 on the rear. My question is, having looked at a number of UK web sites/mags I cannot seem to find identical ones to replace them with(seems to be an odd width and profile). I wonder if anyone has the same tyre requirement and has found a good brand/make as an alternative. I intend to do little wet weather driving, although wouldn't rule it out completely. As I'm new to the game I presume I have 16 inch replica halibrands, and would I need to maintain the two different tyre widths.

Any suggestions/comments will be appreciated.

Tony

Hi Tony
You might try Northants Tyres, not sure about 16" dia. but as far as I know they can supply the popular BFG 15" dia. 60 profiles which are also difficult to obtain.
I think there may be a website but I don't know the address.

Hi Tony.
Here's the site for Northants Tyres,
http://www.northhantstyres.com/
They don't list your sizes in BF Goodrich, or anything else though.
Both sizes are available in Pirelli P6000, and the rears are available in several other makes. I can't check availability on other makes in the front size at the moment as its Sunday. Will check tomorrow and let you know.
Cheers

RE: BFGoodrich Tyres

Thanks guys for the info,

Now I'm curious about the rims, I'll be out with the measuring stick when I'm back in Gloucester where I garage the Cobra. Maybe I've got an odd set of rims... at least I can confirm the rim widths and check my options for a different profile, 50's seem much more available. I'll try these guys once I've decided what options I've got.

Anyway I hope to get most this season out of the existing set, :P but need to build up the piggybank in time! :}

Ta again

Tony

RE: BFGoodrich Tyres

Tony - Have a look and see if the BFGoodrich T/A have M & S on them - it stands for Mud & Snow which goes a long way towards explaining the way they behave in the wet!

I try and never take the beast out in the wet but when I have been cought out - those Comp T/A's were awful.

Now running on Toyo's

Completely different - so much better in the wet and dry.

Regards Clive

RE: BFGoodrich Tyres

Hi

I got my tyres from Harry at Image Wheels when I recently had my outer rims anodised
I was going to get TOYO proxes but bought the cheaper KUHMO alternative
They are far superior to the old Cooper Cobra tyres I had on which were such hard compound that they never wore downh or gripped for that matter

Tyres are F - 225/55/16 and R - 255/50/16
I think they were only about 65 quid each

Cheers

James
