Ward Engineering - Comments?

Hi everybody!
My name is stale and I'm building hotrod of a steel 34 Ford Roadster.
I'm planning to use a A Jaguar rear axle and must probably narrow the axle a little bit.

When i was surfing in the internett the other day I came across this company in UK
http://www.ward-engineering.co.uk/

Do you know anything about this company?
Are they good? Bad?

Greatful for inputs!
You can also visit my homepage and leave a message in my guestbook!

Unrelible, waited for a new front suspension and brakes for 3 months and never got it in the end. I just give up! Never answers the phone and does not reply to emails and messages.

Sorry

OK.
Thanks to both of you. I guess I'll ask him directly about his routins when he welds narrowed driveshafts.
It's a lot of ways to do it wrong and about one way to do it right.

Maybee you can recommend someone in UK who is good at narrowing driveshafts?

Hi stale

i used ed ward for my jag bits. he works from home. doesnt like answering the land line, but i got hold of his mobile which was more successful. quality of parts was good but i did have to wait 4 weeks for my recon calipers. he replied to my emails, and when i had some questions he did reply. if you are not in a rush for the parts then give him a try!!

regards

adam

The quality of Ed's work is excellent - I have had a complete set of parts for my Hawk from him (i.e. recon LSD diff, plated and powder coated, narrowed drive shafts and wishbones, modified hub carriers etc.) OK, you have to hold the 'phone a while to get him sometimes and, like most small operators, he's messed around by his suppliers which unfortunately gets passed on to us. Plan your project - my axle took 4-5 months, but this tied in OK with the work rate. As I said - quality was superb. Very knowledgable, too.

Stale.

I used Wards for all my axle parts and a full set of re-con calipers. Not the easiest guy to get hold of but when I spoke to him he was very helpfull and gave good advice. If your in a rush for parts then maybe not the best but his prices take some beating and the quality is good.

Tony.

Stale

Why don't you try AK Sportscars, they are more than helpful, they use narrowed drive shafts on there kits, they will probably do you an exchange on yours. :tu :tu :tu

There is a link to there site at the bottom of this post.

Thanks a lot to all of you.

It seems like he is the kind of type I can handle over som job to:
Slow, accurate and clever!

Since the driveshafts on the Jag' rear is both driveshaft and upper bearing arm the result of a breckage is much more fatal than on other independent rear axles. That's why I'm asking about the narrowing process.
And his prices is very nice too.

In Sweden Erik Hansson earlier did this kind of work, but he has moved to the US. (I guess it wasn,t enough hotrods for him in Sweden!)
Another Swedish company announce that they do this work now, but I've heard of at least two breakdowns on their axles, and that's not good enough for me.

To give some newcomers in the business a try is ok for body- or enginework, but when it comes to safety and handling I don't want to be someones testpilot!
