Rear Lights

G'day All,

I'm new to this forum but have been a member on the club cobra forum for a while now. I reside in Melbourne Australia.

I am trying to find suppliers of the rear rectangle lights. In the USA you seem to only find the Lucas part L542 which is only a stop light and reflector but I have seen european 289's with amber and stop lights all in one assembly. I believe this light was also OE on a Hillman Minx of the same era.

Are these rear lights with both amber indicator and stop light available in the UK? Are they E tagged? It seems everyone in Oz only wants the separate round lights.

Thanks in appreciation

Al

Al,

Just as a foot note, if you are successful with any suggestions through this medium, could you give the cobra club a shout for their help.

RE: Rear Lights

G'day Guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll already looked at the above mentioned web sites. Both had L542 lucas lights but no amber lights. I'll have to send them an email to find out more.

"Stone the crows" those lights must somewhere!! (for Paul's benefit )

Thanks for your help guys.

Anyone else got some suggestions?

Al

RE: Rear Lights

These rectangular lights are not available. Two ways to do it: You have to change the inlet that it can hold two lamps or you have to use a relais which switches from stop to direction.

Don't ask me for the electrical stuff, but we have a few experts in Germany who have done it. I have two lamps inside.

RE: Rear Lights

I've been doing some more research. Apparently, the rectangle lights were OE on Hillman Minx of the same era. I'm sure I have seen photos of AC Aces or AC 289s with the amber & stop light assembly. Since most cobras were finished off in the states it makes sense that most would've been fitted with L542 lights.

The search continues........x(

RE: Rear Lights

Does anyone else have any info of the lights I'm after?

Are there any AC Ace owners on this forum who might be able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks to those who have responded to my thread - much appreciated :tu

Al.
I'll have a look at Stoneleigh over the weekend and see whats about. I think Gerry Hawkridge of Hawk Cars, may do them, or know where to get them.
Cheers
