Camera Detectors

Hi all

Having just driven through Northampton to post a letter, I was disgusted to find that a load of disgusting blue boxes had been put up all over Northampton. This got me thinking about camera detectors, and which one I should buy as the summer will be a ariving soon, and my license will be going soon.

Has anyone got a detector, and how have they found it. Let me know which ones are good....

Many Thanks

Robert

RE: Camera Detectors

Hey, don't know about detectors but I've got a great idea I'd like to try which might just defeat the old camera. Simply hook up something like a couple of photographic slave-flash units right near your rear numberplate, such that when triggered by the Gatso camera flash they produce such a flare that they 'fog out' your plate on the photograph ? It'll either work a treat or they'll get the best-ever picture of your license plate !

Maybe there's someone somewhere daft enough to try it ?

Pete.

RE: Camera Detectors

These blue boxes - you sure they are Gatso thingies rather than traffic master sensors?? And anyway, I thought our beloved Gov't was saying that all speed cameras had to be in bright yellow?? (some chance, lying bas*ards)

RE: Camera Detectors

No, they are definitely the forward facing truvelo cameras.

Dark blue, and lurking everywhere. I counted 3 in the space of 1/4 mile, how do they expect me to practice my 1/4 mile times with those things dotted down my track. :7 :7

RE: Camera Detectors

I'm in the middle of trying to defend myself after being caught on a mobile gatso or whatever , it was in the back of a van i believe anyway I couldnt remember who was driveing so i asked for a copy of the photo so i could see who was driveing , and guess what ! the piccy did'nt show the driver so as registered keeper of the vehicle I am supposed to name the driver but I can't can i cos I don't remember .However this has got me thinking what if the registered keeper was an elderly family member like your mum or dad who might never have held a licence never mind being a speed hooligan , what I wonder would happen then .

Food for thought I wonder if my cat could be the registered keeper ?

RE: Camera Detectors

If they are Truvelo, some of those work off piezo triggers set in the road - no detector will help there!

RE: Camera Detectors

I thought they used dual sensors, but might be wrong. Time to do some digging.

Does anyone know where I can get an anti threat system from a Tornado? That would certainly fry it!!!!

RE: Camera Detectors

Steve - I have read somewhere that whilst it is a legal requirement that you must fill in that "self incriminating" form, it is NOT a legal requirement that you sign it (and hence incriminate yourself contrary to some Euro rule or other). By following this procedure, you supposedly bol*ox up the prosecution process. Even if they return the form asking you to sign it, you do not have to do so. And they can't "do" you.

Just scuttlebutt - check it out with a lawyer before you rely on it.

RE: Camera Detectors

I believe I am right in saying that when the French government tried to introduce speed cameras in France everyone went out onto the streets with crowbars etc and smashed them up. This meant they lost all their nice new cameras and now they don’t have the infliction anymore.
If this is true then one up too the French, maybe there is something we can learn from them after all . Just in case, how could I have anything against a country that invented lingerie and eat horses.

Do something worthwhile for your community today, smash a speed camera!!}>!!

Starting a revolt…
