Membership Listing & Privacy

Guys

I am working on a strict privacy policy for implementation on the club site due to new privacy policies on IE6 and newer browsers.

This will effectively guard users information and will provide an overview of what we user your personal information gained from the website, which basically is very little.

The second point I would like to raise is the talk among members of a Members List which contains names, addresses, phone numbers and car details.

I for one would definitely NOT want any of my details listed within such a booklet, the phone number in Snaketorque is basically all you will get. I would see that as an invasion of my privacy as a start, and secondly, I would see it as a wonderful picking list for any disreputable car thief.

Best Regards

RE: Membership Listing & Privacy

Rob - what "talk amongst members of a members list" is that then? Not seen or heard anything myself. And I'm with you about not releasing any of my details publicly. I would recommend to anyone else to only pass on any personal details via private in-box or email - anyone can see any details on this forum and there are some dishonest bas*ards about.

RE: Membership Listing & Privacy

There used to be a members list printed, and there are some members which would like to see this re-introduced, and a whole host of members who don't, you and me included.

The Ferrari Owners has such a list a while ago, and after 12 cars were removed from owners possesion, the list was not printed again. I felt I would post this here, as someone is bound to say something at the AGM at Stoneleigh, and wanted to make sure I am not the only one who does not agree when I tell them to shove the idea and a list where the sun doesn't shine.

I also know of a number of memebers who would actually resign if such a list was produced, myself included probably.

Some might say that the club could produce a list of owners, and could put a tick box on the membership renewals for owners who wouldn't mind being on a list, but that is an admistrative nightmare, and would probably not get done properly knowing the workload of the committee.

Just my opinion of course..
