    Outdoor Cob Storage

As some will be aware I was trying to sell the car due to a pending house move that fell through. Having being messed around I decided to keep it anyway.

However it now appears the move is back on the cards, I've found a great house with the garden I always wanted but at the moment it's inaccessible. The garage at the side of the house will need to come down and I will be able to put in a base for a large garage at the very bottom of the garden.

The house is a state so the missus has already declared caravan is the only way until at least the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom are in a good state. I know I will get away with doing the base for the garage but then the pressure will be on as her in doors will want the aforementioned areas sorting.

Any tips suggestions as to what will help the car make it through the next 6 or 7 months outdoors? I can get the chassis waxoiled but would like to avoid rodent problems and keep the interior dry and mould free. I might yet pull rank but I know we do have a few members whose cars live outside.

    Cheers, W

Hi Warren, your best bet would be to rent some storage space, you can just cover them up, but damp would still be an issue, especialy over winter, i would be tempted to build your large garage first, pointing out it can be used for storage of building materials, anyway good luck with the move

How about a Carcoon to store the car in then put a tent over the top?

The carcoon will keep the car dry and sealed then the tent on the outside will keep the weather away from that. Tents big enough for a car are only a few hundred pounds and it can be used afterwards for barbecues and parties.

Alternative is a shipping container in the garden, Big, secure and good for storing those building materials but can drip like crazy with moisture or put an awning on the caravan!

Dax Tojeiro, + 355 Chevy + Tremec box = In storage and possibly for sale, make an offer...
DB Hardtop still in the garage.
Polishes to date = On hold.

What about buying one of those log cabin style garages, eg: Wooden Garage | 44mm Log Cabin Garage, it'll only take a couple of days to put up and you can flog it on later, or convert it to a summer house or hobby room somewhere else in the garden, to keep the wife sweet while you build a proper one.

Believe it or not that was the first thing that crossed my mind, haa, haa. The wooden garage is a good idea as well.

The place is a dump, familys parent has passed on and he has been living in pretty much squalor for some time. Even I wouldn't want to live in it as it is for long. Having had a careful measure today I could actually take down the rear garage wall and make it like a drive through with eventual plans to tear it down.

I would like a triple but I don't think funds will stretch that far, more like a double but would like a pitched roof for storage. Any idea on likely costs.

Just a thought but a triple with double doors wouldn't be a lot more than a double. It's just a few more bricks/blocks and tiles which are peanuts.

That's my thinking as well and our lass will never count bricks I can just say it was a shame not to use them...........sounds like a cunning plan

Get a cheap second hand wooden garage to put on your new base. Then build the brick garage around it. Maximium use of space.

Yeah that would work as well John so I can keep immediate costs down a little. To be honest I wouldn't mind a log style cabin sort of garage anyway. I think they look quite good and fit into most enviroments/suroundings.

Hopefully we will be hearing soon if the offer has been accepted (we think it will be and the estate agent hinted at it) then we can make plans.

Rear garden is seriously water logged so water table must be high there so next question will be what the hell do I do with this apart from throw goldfish in it, lol.

    Thanks for the ideas, Warren
