This is really good info thanks guys, I will check Crendon out. I do think I want side oiler and would love to do the rebuild if possible too think that's part of the fun but if not easy come by then could think about the top oiler if still available I know stefan was still selling it a little while ago and lowered price to could be worth chasing up as I don't intend to race it.. Is the top oiler suitable for the occasional track day?

topoloer would be fine for track days.

If you plan to rebuild, (and I agree it's part of the fun, I'm rebuilding my FE) then a less expensive top oiler really makes sense. Also if you haven't got it get the book on rebuilding FEs by Barry Rabotnik. Available on Amazon and will tell you all you need to know about identifying blocks as well as how to rebuild them.

Mike Huddart usually has FE block so might also be worth a call to him.

I'll second (third? fourth?) the advice to go see JK at Crendon, too. He's a thoroughly nice man.

Another vote - I have a 428FE from Mike and a Crendon. (I couldnt stretch to the S/O, and at the time Mike had a 428 gathering rust and rain water in his cow shed that needed snapping up

have a look at some of the opics in my gallery - green car was a Pilgrim, and the black chassis/white body is the crendon, with a few other bits Ive added myself.

Hi Shane, I agree with Lloyd, not worth putting a sideoiler in a Dax. I've got an AK, and I put in a big block chevy, that way you get the weight/horsepower of a sideoiler for less money-you can always get BB Chevy stuff on ebay.
    Good luck!

I spoke to John Kerr the other day when I bought one of his beading tools. What a great chap and so enthusiastic. Made me want to buy a Crendon immediately. Unfortunately with the current state of affairs the beading machine is the nearest I will get but if I could, I would!
Cobraless for the first time since 1992......starting to think of another. Crendon or AK....money dependent

If your worried about "authenticity" then surely the only car to get and put that engine into is a Kirkham?

    Craig.

Dax Tojeiro, + 355 Chevy + Tremec box = In storage and possibly for sale, make an offer...
DB Hardtop still in the garage.
Polishes to date = On hold.

I have to say that having had a plastic snake since 2003 and seen what happens in the various places I have been, an ally bodied car would literally do my head in.
Only a few weeks ago I was parked at the petrol pump (somewhere near Cognac) and an old guy in a van squeezes in next to my car to get to the gas cylinder cage. He was relatively careful but as he kind of fell out of his van his door bumped mine.
It wasn't enough to do any damage to my paintwork but I suspect an ally door skin would have dented.

How far do you go? Surely the sideoiler should go in an AC not a replica?
I think Crenodn is the best compromise of originality and useability, at a reasonable cost.
    Just my humble.
