The Night Before

Do any of you guys remember the night before you went to get your chassis ? Well tonight is that night for me Den phoned me up this afternoon to inform me that a chassis was avalible as some person had dropped out. I've tried to sleep but cant stop thinking about all the heartache and foul language before me Cant wait

Ahh.. top stuff Kelvin !. Yep, just try not to do what I did and offer to take the wife shopping at Hedge End !!- bloody nightmare parking body/chassis outside M&S whilst the wife/mother-in-law spent 2 hours 'window shopping' , leaving me to fend-off about 100 questions from everyone-and-his-dog in the car park !! - All I wanted to do was get the kit home in one piece !!

What engine did you decide on in the end ?

Pete.

RE: The Night Before

Nope none of that stopping stuff, just a quick engine running toilet stop (behind some tree's) . Engine's erm i know i need one but not sure which, i'm thinking rover due to avalibility etc, and yours did sound very nice that day, but then there is the chevvy with its power, but im looking at the ford aswell due to the fact that wilf has four stars by his name and he likes them, so they must be worth a look. From what i have read on a web page about the fords the american's will pay p&p on any turn key engine, don't know whether they include shipping to the uk, haven looked into yet. I know im gonna end up with a pinto 2L

Kelvin

Yep, I believe with the modern MKIII Pilgrim chassis you can choose from a range of engine mounts which simply bolt-in later, so you can choose your motor after youve started building!. Just keep looking round & see what takes your fancy - could even build a budget motor & add Nitrous to make it a bit different !

Kelvin - don't take any notice of those stars - they just mean I've posted more BS than most others. Always remember that whilst nearly all of us here are genuinely trying to help, our opinions are worth exactly what you pay for them. It's your car, your dream, you do whatever makes you happy. Just be safe. And good luck.

Wilf

PS - on a helpful note, if you do really think you might fit NO2 some time in the future, remember to specify that to your engine builder or parts supplier to make sure you get the right type of pistons/rods etc, and get the ring gaps adjusted for it during the engine build - a mistake I made!

RE: The Night Before

I'd say almost as interesting as a Cosworth engine in a Euro 427...but with a lot less blue smoke... :P
