| Track Day Virgin With some trepidation I finally took my Sumo out for its first track day last Thursday. The circuit was Mallory Park and the day was organised by the Jaguar Enthusiast's Club. I had been in two minds about doing this 'cause I would really hate to bend my car or ruin the paint job. However, I was keen to see how she would get on - what an excellent day we had! The experience had its good and bad points. My main conclusions were as follows (these shouldn't really come as a surprise): 1. Sumo's don't do corners - the chassis (at least of the Sumo II) is nothing like stiff enough. 2. It really needs adjustable shocks 3. You need a powerlok diff (even with a standard Rover V 4. Track days are a huge amount of fun! So for anyone that has not yet tried their Cob "off-road", I can thoroughly recommend it! Two Greens |

| RE: Track Day Virgin I used to organise track days, and did do one 2 years running, but after loosing money both yars running, gave it up as the majority of people on the club only want to polish their cobs instead of using then for the purpose intended. On both occasions, I only needed to pull in 20 cars to break even. No chance. Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif

You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere. |
