Chevy Block

Which block would best suit, a Mopar Blue, Bowtie or Bowtie Aluminium block? my current block is only good for a useable 600hp, so over the winter I will be replacing it.

Wilf, you might as well ignore this as it is chevy related.

RE: Chevy Block

Gumball

It has to be a small block, and the maximum stroke is probably a 383, although with an ally one I could go to a 400ish, but I want to limit the max power to 800hp.

Now before anyone starts jumping up and down saying thats stupid, I am building in a lot of leeway to ensure the block doesn't crack, and I will only ever see 650-700hp out of the engine.

The normal 4 bolt mains, even with work done to it will disintegrate over 600hp.

RE: Chevy Block

Hello Rob,

If you really want to go for big cubes Small Block, World Produts manufacture race prepared Chevy SB up to 427 ci. I think that Dart have Chevy big cubes small blocks. The crakshafts usually are Scat.

You can take a look to the summit catalog, you could find some of this blocks, turn key chevy engines 427 Sb from Hardcore Racing Products they clain 650 hp with iron heads and 675 with aluminium heads aspirated, and in the same page information about the block.

The USA company www.enginefactory.com manufacture too a 427 SB chevy race they claim that produce 650 hp the aspirated engine, even they have a street version of this engine and can add fuel injection to this engine. At least could be usefull for you to check the parts specifications.

I guess that you will want a supercharger engine.

After many research (looking for a good engine for me) I can tell you that if you really want a very powerfull engine, you will need one of the aftermarket chevy racing prepared engines, no one of the standart will suport the strees of the power that you want.

Hope this help.

RE: Chevy Block

Jesus

I only want the block as I have all the other components in my current engine, and I will get Ken Coleman of EDA to dyno the engine. He builds the engines for most of the racing community in the UK, which means I have good access to support if needed.

But thanks for the info.

RE: Chevy Block

Hello Rob,

I think that for only the block both World Products and Dart manufacture blocks race ready and they sell it without any other component and they have them aviables with at leats four different bores, and with them you could be sure that the block will support all the power that you will put on it.

You could order it directly from them, through Summit, Jegs or any other USA racing equipment stores or perhaps any British store or even you work shop perhaps could supply it for you.

If you want to know about the characteristics of this blocks you could address directly to world products, inc. www.worldcastings.com fax 1-810-939-8153, tel 1-810-939-9628. I do not have information of Dart, sorry.

Hope this help.

Jesus.
