RE: Stonleigh pictures...

Steve, It's a Kodak DC4800, 3.1M pixel jobbie. About £500ish when new.The pictures it takes are much bigger and better quality than those posted here, I have to trim them down to be able to post them. I would say that you wouldn't really need the full quality unless you needed to modify the pictures in some way or other. I think a much cheaper camera would take pictures just as good.

RE: Stonleigh pictures...

Simon How come two Essex boys went all that way and didn't meet. What a great weekend met lots of nice people and saw some great cars. Thank to all the folks who said nice things about the car and my articles in the mag, nice to meet you all , this what the club is all about. The record for he furthest driven has to go to Nigel Brackenbury who breezed in from Bad Goddesburgh Germany sporting a funny hat but with warm ears, just for chat and to bring me an oil cooler,ta Nigel.
I drove home with the hood up for the first time, a new experience it was warm. see you all at Duxford

I know, it costs me a fortune in petrol, as I cannot seem to keep off boost, but boy does it bring a HUGE smile to me and the unwary volunteer!!!

The next time I am doing rides if for the Sporting Bears at the Sportscar Show at the NEC at the end of May, and want to see as many members as possible, so we can raise loads and loads of money.

Sorry I wasn't able to stop and chat.

David

The car in the pic is a customers car, going over to Dubai. I did offer to drive it over, but they said no thanks. x( x(

See you at the Open Day on the 1st hopefully.

RE: Stonleigh pictures...

Hi all

This was the first show i have been to, i learnt loads.

Firstly book into a hotel as they seemed to pick the most bumpyest field in the midlands.

Secondly, book into a hotel as its bl**dy cold up north (well its north from weymouth )

These were the main things i learnt, oh yeh and ive to put 'dodgy hat' onto my wants list for my car.

It was good to put faces to names and speak to people, some people dont come across as i imagine.

Thanx to anybody that offerd me advice and i hope to see you all again at the Nec, work permitting.

Cheers kelvin

Shame at Stoneleigh!

Simon - sorry to have missed you, met loads of folk, most of whom were surprised to discover that I am not, after all, 4'6", fat, bald etc. Even the flatulence held down for a while.

Anyway - there was SHAME at Stoneleigh, on three - no, make that four, counts:

1: The esteemed treasurer of our august club was there in his (admittedly new and nice) tintop - because HE FORGOT TO TAX THE COBRA!!!!! Does this augur well for the club finances I ask? Tisbury - hang your head in shame.

2: The nice man scaring innocent passers-by with the whistling monster was witnessed encouraging one of his offspring to dribble all over my car! SHAME on you Rob Stanley!

3: That Russell_Ram bloke - kept the crowds amused by starting and revving his car frequently, (and he couldn't disguise that sheepish smile when the assembled crowds duly went ooh and aah) but when I did the same, he told me my car sounded GIRLY! Girly - I ask you? Flatulent, maybe, but girly????? Made me laugh most of the way home on Sunday. (nice car tho' Russ, pity the golf clubs won't fit in the boot any more).

4: And last, and usually least, myself. Due to rain on the way over on Monday I think there was a SPECK OF DIRT ON MY CAR! Shame on me as well, how can I ever hold up my head in the company of such distinguished polishers? Club Concours will never open it's doors to me again.

Seriously tho', great show, great folks, thanks as ever to those who lugged the tent and merchandise over and set it all up.

Last thought - I think the time has come for a revolution - this pastime used to be nice and relaxed, particularly low-key, but now, horror of horrors, there was a kit manufacturer with one of their cars on a REVOLVING TURNTABLE! Shades of Geneva/Detroit/Milan etc. car shows. Where will it all end? Topless models draped over Westfields?

Wilf

Ultima have always had a car on a revolving, or should that be revolting stand, if that is who you are talking about.

Wilf,

I thought I had my paint scheme nailed down. Until I spotted your car on the Sunday afternoon - Lovely paint job and looked absolutely wonderful in the sunshine. I think I'm going to have to build 2 cars to apease my colour cravings!

RE: Shame at Stoneleigh!

Wilf,

Obviously was only having little joke at you expense, car actually sounds and looks great but a bit quiet (ie girly) for me - but at least its probably legal!! As for the reving it up thing, it's a bit like Rob's spaceship rides, only it doesn't cost me quite as much for the fuel.

ps I gave up golf when I found I could no longer afford it due to the need for shiny stainless and aluminium - and I was cr*p at it anyway.

And thanks for all the positive feedback on my car - it does make the thousands of hours seem all worthwhile - at least in retrospect anyway.

Good to meet you all - see you next time.

Russ
