Trucking frustrating

Why is it so many truckers on our magnificent motorway network feel the need to move to the second lane when they only have about 0.001mph more than the truck on the inside lane?
I've just had a couple of days travelling and lost count of the mobile roadblocks this causes.
Perhaps Gatso can design a steel spike which fires up from the truck load pedal if it detects too low a speed diffierential.

OK, winge over, now for a large G&T!!

Re: Trucking frustrating

I know what you mean I regularly use the M50 and it's only two lanes, I've lost count of how many times that's happened to me .
I reckon the truckers must be having a cha and comparing the size of their Yorkies.

Re: Trucking frustrating

Kev,

I would have thought, being in Richard Brunstroms back yard, (Wales!) you'd do 55mph and be happy for it....

Re: Trucking frustrating

Frustrating, yes. Their fault, no.

Some crowd of "expert" eurocrats who decided that trucks should be limited to 90km/h (56mph) give or take a fraction.

They're in the process of being limited down to 85km/h (52mph) soon, just to make matters worse.

However the "dodderer" who then pulls into the OUTSIDE lane at 58mph to pass the trucks in a car of "adequate" performance is the REAL pain.

America seems to cope OK with trucks overtaking at over 80mph on the 2-lane interstates - after all, what are all those 420hp for........

Simon.
