Advise on cobra

Well I made a mess of that one.

Dear Reader

I must first say that this is my first forum, so bear with me, I am basically asking for good advise on a kit kit I plan to build.
I am a tall chap so I need plenty of room, I good be greatfully for info on the pro's & cons of the kits on the market today, I have had a look at the DG & it looked great, any other advise would be welcome on other kits

Cheers
John

Re: Advise on cobra

Welcome to the forum John.

I am building an AK and I am very pleased so far (with both the kit and AK as a supplier). AK is offering extended foot wells (my kit got a 1" extension).

Regards / Bowtie

Hi John. Phone 01733 267633 and place an order for the following :

1 x AK Cobra Replica Kit

Anyway, if you REALLY want to do a bit of research, then use the search facility on the site. There are LOADS of posts about the subject. Some posts even give you useful comparisons of the kits (unlike my completely biased post here of course)...

Make sure you sit in one before you order!
I sat in one recently and couldn't possibly drive it, maybe it wasn't built correctly but better safe than sorry.
P.S. I'm 6'4" and 16 Stone.

Re: Advise on cobra

Seeing as we are comparing sizes I'm building an AK with 1" extended footwell, I'm 6' but a bit lardier than DB.
You pay your money and takes your chance. By reading the forum you know there is unrivalled support from DB/AK/GD.

Re: Advise on cobra

Hi,

I'm 6"2', most of which is legs, and i had great difficulty fitting in the demo Dax or the demo AK. Both ended up with my knees hard on the steering wheel & Dash.

The GD was the only one i fitted in, which was lucky as it was the one with the best praise from a technical/handling point of view. (IMHO)

Saying that, GD aren't very good at getting back to you via email, but help on the phone is good.

The guys at AK were very good, friendly, but the chassis design, leg room and understated look of the GD swung it for me.

I dont know why, but i didnt 'click' with the dax. Perhaps it was the iffy sierra column switches fouling the dash panel...

My opinion, go for a GD, but the AK and Dax, and even Crendon if you want orignality, are all very good marques.

Have fun, and prepare your wallet for a pounding.....

Re: Advise on cobra

I've got an AK with an extra 2" in the footwell length. Together with seats on runners and an adjustable steering column ( both rake and reach) I reckon it should comfortable accomodate drivers from 5' 5" ( the wifes height, useful for getting home from boozy Sunday lunches ) to 6'3"( should I ever want to sell it to a lanky person).

I suggest you design exactly what you want with AK, and they'll make it for you.

Cheers,

Tony

AK have also now developed an electrically adjustable Pedal box which will give even moor room.

... adjustable pedalbox also available for the GD since at least last year....

I wonder if Dax do one, not heard of it...

Re: Advise on cobra

Well I'm 6' 2" and slightly portly and I had no problems in the Dax demonstrator or in fact my own.

I did enquire about extended foot wells that Dax do but really didn't need them in the end.
