Cambridge Motorsport

Any body used them or heard anything about them?

They seem quite well respected in classic circles, setting up and preparing lots of classic race cars - should therefore know what they are doing with a carburettor!

Was thinking of using them for their rolling road and setting up / modifying of my carb.

Any comments?

Re: Cambridge Motorsport

I have always used Pete Baldwin in preference to Cambridge Motorsport, he is an absolute genius when it comes to setting up cars. Wishers Garage near Cambridge 01223 207217

Re: Cambridge Motorsport

When you say "in preference", do you speak from experience of Cambridge Motorsport. Have you used them in the past??

What sort of power will Pete Baldwin's rolling road take?

I'm not actually in the Cambridge area - but just want it done right, so don't mind travelling a little bit (within reason) to get the job done.

I have had a rather unpleasant experience with a rolling road before where the guy really had no idea what he was doing, despite coming highly recommended, so, as I'm sure you understand, I want to get it right.

Thanks for the info.

Re: Cambridge Motorsport

Hi Gumball, I have used Peter Baldwin and as previously stated he can really tune your car well. But the down side is his equipment only goes up to 300 BHP so if you are going to produce much more then he might be able to tune it but you will not get any accurate figures

Re: Cambridge Motorsport

If you are coming as far as Cambridge, you may as well consider PTS in Luton. I've been there a couple of times and I have to say, very good - knew exactly what they were doing and have a 500bhp rolling road.

Re: Cambridge Motorsport

Hi there Gumball It was with Peter at Wilshers in Wimpole and it was certainly worth it. As was mentioned before he only has a unit that goes to 300 hp and mine passed that at 3500 rpm but the main thing was to set up the engine. On Sunday I change the primary jets up two numbers and changed from a secondary plate to separate jets and at the same time whent up two levels. On test the primaries needed to go down one level and the secondaries were spot on also Peter suggested to drop the amount of fuel from the accelerator pump as this was over fueling on lift off. Once done the car is now nice to drive got it up to 170mph at approx 4500 in fith . One thing that did show up was the SW rev counter was 500 out at 4000 the machine showed 4500.
So all in all a good day and I would reccomend a visit providing you do not want pieces of paper showing what max power you have got
cheers
Paul

Re: Cambridge Motorsport

Cambridge Motorsport

I think above has same problem as Peter Baldwin regards handling large bhp.
I also think, from previous posts I've read, that you may get more for your money from P. Baldwin.
