Le Mans

Hi Guys
How many of you took your Cobra's to Le Mans last weekend? I could not do it this year due to our iminent wedding but really keen for next year. I went in 1991 and had a great time but wanted to find out how it all went and how many of you will be going next year.

Re: Le Mans

I didn't make myself this year, but did last year although not in the Cobra 'cos I had engine problems at the time.
I hope to be going next year though, I reckon every two years is enough for me.

Re: Le Mans

I went 99 2000 01 02 and 03, gave it a miss this year as I am going to the Le-Mans Classic in July.

I hope its as good as everyone reckons, cos I really missed going to the 24 hr.

Re: Le Mans

I went (7th trip) in my BRA 289. I saw disappointingly few Cobras down there but had a really good time.
I went to the classic in 2002 and thought it was very good if a little genteel after the main event. I gather that this years classic will be bigger and better and i am trying to persuade the Managing Director of Domestic Matters ('er indoors) that we could fit the classic in with a holiday in France.

PS Just read the opening page on this website and notice it is the website of a club which caters for 427 replicas. Nobody told me that when I joined in 1989 at the Stafford show. Aren't 289's welcome any more?

289s are more than welcome and are included on the second sentence, which seems to have been split from the first sentence, used to be all one paragraph.

The Cobra Replica Club is dedicated to the AC Cobra Replica Marque, comprising the Shelby Cobra and the 289.

I will change it when I get a min.

Re: Le Mans

... after all, the GD427 is confusingly based on a 289 (apparently)...
