Insurance

Just looking around for the best deal on insurance By the the best deal I dont necessarily mean the cheapest! Just the one that offers the best cover with no nasty suprises if you are unfortunate enough to have to claim. So far I've asked for quotes from 10 Companys/Brokers online and only 5 have bothered to reply!! The cost ranges from £387 -£583 for F/comp, 5000mls a year, Guaranteed Value, Locked Garage, No alarm and Breakdown cover. Anyone got any Pros and Cons to offer on the various contenders?
Cheers

Re: Insurance

Chris

I've tried them all this year to see if I could cut down the Insurance cost, the cheapest I could find was Adrian Flux at £360 fully comp, 1 driver, 3000 miles, no guaranteed valuation.

I decided I would stay with Blackford Bloor, £420, 1 driver, 3000 miles, with a guaranteed value off £25000.

Piece of mind means a lot.

Re: Insurance

I'm with Mike on this:
Backford Bloor- 5000mls, £25k agreed value, NO no claims bonus, 4named drivers, no alarm/immob, kept on drive overnight, green card all for £420 and the only co. that would cover me for NOS.
(Then again I am an ol' gibber of 42!!!.......They even cover me if I have a shunt in B&Q's car park on a Thursday (discount day for us old age perishers...... it's great in the car park - smells of slipping clutches and p*ssy pants on all day. Better than burning rubber and booming stereos...... eat your hearts out you hatch back bolt-on bass box Billy big bore boys, nnyeeaaaaa). Sorry, time for my stewed prunes. gib-gib-gib-dribble-dribble.

Re: Insurance

52..... c u @ B&Q
mmmm pruuunes.

Is it your only car cos if it is they'll give you a loading. If you've got access to another vehicle it's cheaper. Buy a £10 'ped and tell 'em, it's cheaper and you'll probably like it better than the 'bra..... B&Q will let you take it in store if you tell them it's a mobility scooter!
Oh no, I've wet me longun's again...."Matron"

Re: Insurance

Whichever way you go with your insurance, ensure (in writing) that the agreed value means agreed value. A lot of policies out there do not do what they say on the tin, I can personally vouch for this. One major insurer of 'classic' and 'kit' car (who shall remain nameless for legal reasons), recently tried to pay out 50% of an 'agreed' value on a total loss claim. Be careful. Backford Bloor's 'agreed value' does what it says on the tin (something they are proud of and advertise). Also, check very carefully the 'cherished salvage return' clause, i.e. in the event of a write off, can you keep the salvage or will it cost you? Again, speaking from experience here. Finally, does the policy cover you for breakdown and recovery? UK or European etc...

Statistics show in excess of 70% of drivers are under insured.
