useless parts

In conversation the other day the subject of buying parts that are of no use and put upon the garage shelf for a later date was mentioned.

So what have you bought only to find it was of no real use??.
Who has spent the most on something they didn't need or possibly bought a second hand engine only to find it not to be what you thought??.
Come on guy's don't be shy lets learn from others mistakes??.

I bought a steering column that I stripped of a car took home and found it to be wrong and so put it straight in the bin.

This could be a laugh.

Re: useless parts

Richard, come now... it's not useless - makes a great paperweight for a giant. It's also great for soaking up those little money spills you might have. Mine just drinks the stuff and never seems to get any nearer completion...

As regards buying useless crap... a big set of imperial spanners (because I was getting an American engine). Didn't know LS1s are all metric...

Re: useless parts

What about the blow up doll on the second shelf Dave. Or is it a datum for Tricky performance.
Mike.
