Le Mans Classic - Disaster!!

Hi Guys,

Having looked forward to going to Le Mans Classic for months , my son looked out his passport Friday evening only to find that it expired in May . Having contacted the Passport Office the earliest that we can get an appointment is Friday (by which time I will have left).

Considered getting Eurostar/TGV to Le Mans for Friday Evening but not practical.

Therefore he is not going!!. And I've got tickets to get rid of!!

GUTTED OR WHAT!!

Re: Le Mans Classic - Disaster!!

I thought you could get a temporary visitor passport, or maybe they don't exist anymore since the recent changes.
Maybe you can't get one of those if you've had a proper one.
Hope you manage to off load the ticket(s).

Re: Le Mans Classic - Disaster!!

Hi,

I had the same problem, I got a 48 hour passport, costs a bit, but simple and easy.

Look at http://www.ukpa.gov.uk/_3_urgent/3_48hrs.asp

I hope this helps.

John.

Re: Le Mans Classic - Disaster!!

I got to Stansted airport at 7.30am two years ago, and at check-in discovered my passport had expired two days before!

By 6pm that same day I was on a later flight to France.

I had travelled by train to the main Passport Office in London, behind Victoria Station, and joined the queue for when it opened at 9am - no appointment needed. Photos were done in a booth in the waiting room. I was in front of an official one hour later, he processed my application but told me I had to wait up to four hours for the passport to be ready. That was a long four hours. Actually it wasn't four hours, it was just under three (I kept pestering them).

So it can be done!

Hope that helps?

Colin

I know the post is two years old, but I thought you could travel within Europe without a passport?
