Carpet on Centre Tunnel

My carpet refuses to stick on the side of the centre tunnel where the tunnel is at its most narrow point. I have tried a few things but it still no joy. The problem seems to be due to the tunnel shape. Anyone else had this issue? Can you suggest any good products to try?

A trivial problem I know, but using the car for my wedding in a couple of weeks and want it looking 100%

Cheers

Re: Carpet on Centre Tunnel

I used some cotton type padding between the tunnel and the carpet to help the carpet flow around the tunnel. It just helps to fill out the baggyness (not really a good word) which will always get because of the tapered shape.
with a decent upholsterey glue I've had no problems.

Re: Carpet on Centre Tunnel

Brian,

This is the only problem I have left after the SVA in exactly the same place as your (and my rubber door seals)

Have tried Grippa spray which stuck well but finally gave up on Wednesday so have now bought a large tub of Evo Stick which I will use tonight.

Re: Carpet on Centre Tunnel

You may find that you have to clean the sides of the tunnel with acetone or thinners to ensure a clean surface for the glue to bond to. Any presence of silicone whatsoever will cause the glue to lose its adhesion.

Cheers,

Tony

Re: Carpet on Centre Tunnel

Use steam, it will make the carpet more pliable and take form easier, wall paper stripper will do the trick, I know it sounds daft but it works.
