Another Happy Cobra Owner!!!!

Got our cobra yesterday!!! Yipee

Its a DAX with 350ci Chevy expertly put together by Dave Brookes (a quick plug for you Dave!), who I can whole-heartedly recommend to anyone thinking of building a Cobra and like me does not have the facilities, time, technical ability (and want's one ASAP).

I have to say that I could not believe the acceleration of it, and to think that this is one of Dave's "lower power" models (about 255BHP).

Had a good run from Stoke-On-Trent back to Kent (much to Dave's relief no doubt!), although It did rain on and off all the way down - thank god I went for the option of a hood!.

Had my first scary moment today coming on to a round-about, the road was slightly damp and pulled away a little quickly and felt the back end step out, quickly got it back in line by easing off the throttle, although there was a smell of burnt rubber in the car for a minute of two.

I have also never seen so meany people turn their heads to have a look where that rumbling sound is coming from, and all the way down the M6/M1 we had no privacy as kids and parents alike stared in envy!

Hopefully I can meet up with some of you guys down in the South East for advice etc., and also join the Cobra Club.

Cheers,

Tim.

RE: Another Happy Cobra Owner!!!!

Congrats!

your car wouldnt happen to be Ford Blue would it? I ask as Dave had a nice blue one one his website which I know he sold recently. If it is and the reg starts DX51 you will be pleased to know that not only do parents and choldren stare in envy you can add me to that list as well as I have a picture of that car as my PC wallpaper at work!

Anyway I wish you many happy hours of motoring.

My dream is now a little further away as my wife has indicated that she would like children in the next few years, hence the cob goes on hold till Im at least, ooh, 40!

Bye (one very envious aspiring cobra owner)

Andy

RE: Another Happy Cobra Owner!!!!

Thanks Tim.

The car believe it or not isn't Ford imperial blue with white stripes, it was a refreshing change to build one a different colour scheme, atleast the guys at the SVA are now certain that i'm not just turning up with the same car over and over again with different vin numbers stamped on it.

Burnt rubber smell pulling away from roundabout. Hmmm. Dave, you didn't leave your bondage gear on the exhaust manifold again did you, you are going to have to sack that Fifi.

Hows your beer drinking pallet for the weekend, or is the nectar going to get warm again.
Mike.

RE: Another Happy Cobra Owner!!!!

Andy,

No, its not the car you mention, I think that is the one Dave was able to register on a new registration plate and has the luxury of not requiring an MOT for a few years.

Mine was at the Stoneleigh show a few weeks back on Dave's stand, it is in dark blue gel coat with black leather interior. I need to save a few more pennies before getting it sprayed properly.

I've sneaked the Cobra in before getting married in September, as like you it was either now or later in life - and I've decided that If you want something in life (and can afford it) just to go for it.

Cheers,

Tim.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday is Tatton Park. If the weather is O.K. I will be attending on Sunday. Sunday and Monday is Harrogate show which I will be attending on Monday. Saturday I have been invited as a guest at a clients private box at Docaster Racecourse , cue the caviar and champers. Probably fish and chips and loose lots of money.
