| RE: v8 versus v12 Ian, thanks very much for this advice, its a sobering story. As somebody new to the Cobra scene, this is exactly sort of information and opinion that I am lacking, so I will certainly bear your story in mind when viewing cars. Andy |

| Re: v8 versus v12 Thank God I joined up. This forum has just swung me away from a v12. Cheers all!

| Re: v8 versus v12 Good choice then. They're nasty heavy things that bugger up your weight distribution, cost a fortune if they break, are a bugger to work on because of the size & drink like an Irishman during the Gold cup weekend. Well, OK a 5.7's also pretty thirsty.

| Re: v8 versus v12 I have to aggree with all of the above as I am nearing the end of a V12 to V8 conversion on a dax and the seven grand is quite a conservative figure, when you add in the cost of exhaust, clutch, gearbox and chassis mods. If the car is cheap to perchase with the V12 then it is worth it , if not wait until you can get a V8 it is worth it.

| Re: v8 versus v12 I paid £12K for my 302 engined AK so you can get american V8 at your budget but..............before you get too excited have a trawl back through my previous posts to see how things can go a little pear shaped! It now stands me in £15.5K, 134 hours lost sleep and several packets of migraine tablets! You'll realise a V12 is not acceptable once you've heard a V8 cob getting a good hard caning |
