| Chassis Redesign I have been hearing rumours of a Chassis Redesign at Dax, is there any truth in the rumours or is it just pants? Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif

| RE: Chassis Redesign Yes Robert, you are correct the chassis is pants. :P TJ |

| RE: Chassis Redesign TJ That isn't really fair, just because you have been on the plonk in Monaco for the past week after DCs win. The Dax chassis is functional. Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif

| RE: Chassis Redesign >The Dax chassis is functional. Functional as what? Maybe a 5 bar gate, but not as a chassis to put a torqued V8 in. "In Vino Veritas" TJ |

| RE: Chassis Redesign Wilf I think he has had too much to drink, as he is celebrating after Coulthards win as he did quite a bit of work on it the week before the race. Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif

| RE: Chassis Redesign Wilf I base my comments on the experience I have in the motorsport industry designing and consulting for a number of the top teams. I was designing chassis and suspension systems a while before you were even in nappies, and I am still doing it today, so I must know something about it. The original Cobras were not built as "road cars" so why should people accept the shortcomings of a traditional ladder chassis, and a poor one at that. I do not drive anything yet, as I am in the decision making stage therefore I do not have my head stuck so far up my own a*se that I can have an objective view and my opinion is not colour by owning any of the different cars. I have been doing the research for a while now and am frankly surprised that there are not more people questioning the use of a traditional ladder chassis after all the research that has been done over the past 40 years in semi and full monocoque design and backbone design. And before I get a forum bashing by all the Dax owners, This is not directed specifically at Dax, this is directed at any manufacturer that uses a ladder chassis. Get with the times guys and get out of the 60s. TJ |

| RE: Chassis Redesign Most of us are not hot headed racers, and therefor do not require a chassis that is designed for the track. We merely want something that resembles the Cobra marque, as real one are out of our price range. So just take that into consideration before you start something similar to what some w#~?%r who called himself Jeepdog did, and quite frankly, made a complete tw?t of himself! As it happens, I had a ride in a Dax on Tuesday, which was built in someones garage, and was set up the way Dax specify. When he took his hands off the wheel, it steered in a perfect straight line, which says alot about the chassis. Some normal road cars find that difficult to acheive, even when they are bought from a showroom. |

| RE: Chassis Redesign err TJ - I might be wrong having not studied it carefully and not being a self-praising chassis designer, but was the original cobra chassis not a ladder-frame? And frankly I think it would be better if you did stick your head up your a*se rather than randomly spraying insults at people and manufacturers - if you really don't want to buy a ladder frame then don't, I'm sure most people are aware of the limitations of a ladder frame and don't try and delude themselves that it is anything else. You really are coming across as a right ****er (feel free to fill in the blanks!) Stuart |
