Collection date.

Got collection date from AK today, 30th April Plenty of time for bank balance to grow a bit and keep wife on side.:thumb:

Axles in and being stripped.
Steering column and rad ready.
Getrag gearbox picked up Saturday.
Bellhousing sorted.
Engine looks increasingly like an import from Enginefactory, especially with the dollar rate at the mo` the prices seem hard to beat even with vat and import duties etc.How accurate are the US. bhp qouted figures these days?

The Getrag box looks like it may need the gear lever remote housing extended a bit when I look at other peoples instalations, anyone with an AK and getrag box care to advise please. Any photo`s would be good:thumb:

Re: Collection date.

I think you'll find all quoted figures for BHP and Torque will be biased to the high side for obvious reasons.
It's not just the Yanks that do it either.
My stroker came from the Engine Factory I've been well pleased with the aftersales support too. :thumb:

Tony

Mine was out of a BMW 7 series and didn't need extending, don't know if this pic helps, it sits perfect in the tunnel. :thumb: :thumb:

Re: Collection date.

Tony,

I am in the process of mating a Jaguar Getrag box to a Ford 351w. From the photographs I took at AK's factory when I collected the car, it would appear that Ken extends the remote linkage by approximately 50mm. I am intending to discuss this with Ken at the Harrogate show this coming weekend to get a definitive dimension.

I have attached photographs taken at the factory of a similar installation, where you can clearly see the welded extension.

Regards,

Neil.

Neil

Thanks for the pics, this is the type of extension I`ve seen before, would be gratefull if you could let me know what you find out from Ken, I can`t make the show as we`re away on hols Friday.
It would seem the BMW Getrag box doesn`t require this mod as the remote looks totally different from the Jag version.

Cheers.Tony.

The BMW is totally different, if you look at the pictures, mine is only supported at the 2 top mounts of the gearbox, if you look towards the rear I have put a cross brace and rubber bobbin across the chassis to hold the rear end of the remote.

Re: Collection date.

Tony,

I had a chat with Ken at the Harrogate show regarding the extension of the Jaguar Getrag remote section as shown in the photographs I posted earlier.

The selector shaft and remote bracket are extended by 2 inches. If you don't fancy doing the extension yourself, Ken mentioned that some of his customers leave the gearbox with them for completion by Jon.

Another option is to bend the gear lever to provide the 2 inch offset, although Ken didn't recommend this method of extension.

He also mentioned that the BMW remotes have to be shortened, although Mike does not appear to have had any problems.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Neil.

If you look at the picture, I have turned the gear lever by 180 degrees, so it angles forward, instead of backwards, I think in the original BMW position, I would have probably needed to shorten the remote slightly
