SO..... did anyone go? I was in France until today so missed it, but I do know that Carroll Shelby was there! I nearly came back early, but having already done that in July this year to take part in the Dunlop Race Academy, I thought better of it!

Hi Kev, no mate still alive and well just busy getting my car back on the road, or trying too!! Nice to know I have been missed though XX Have been pi--ed around indirectly by Street Steel for 6 weeks who make the Hawkridge Chassis Re some side pipes I have purchased from an AK (long story!) I some times wonder weather these people really want the business???! Now had to go else where and get my do-sh back.

Nik no did not make Haynes re no car but I bet it was a good day, I had no idea they had a test track there Eric.

It wasn`t all sweetness by the look of things. http://www.totalkitcar.com/tkc_article_726.shtml
I`ve heard that the AC MKIV attendees left due to some unpleasantness too.
My Dad was there, but I haven`t caught up with him yet!

Re: Haynes Museum Cobra Day - 1 Sep 04

Hi,

I went to the evening, not the day. At the evening, there was 6 * 289 cobra's, now looking at each cobra I noticed that only one was what I call original, the rest had non-orignal parts, etc, but I did not give a sh*t. I did enjoy the evening, I sat next to John Morton who is racing the Daytona this weekend, we had a good chat about kits, etc. I must say he was great and his passing comment when leaving was “good luck with the cobra builds John”. Mr Shelby was behind me who gave a great quote "there are 300,000 kit cobra's .... but at least they are keeping the spirit going". So it was not all bad, also some great stories. I did enjoy the evening and spoke to a lot of race drivers, etc. who had know bad feelings towards kit cars. I think there was a small group of AC owners that thought there cars are the best, my view is "if you want and can not afford it, then build it and enjoy", who gives a flying f**k what people think, it is yours. Also Mr Shelby did look at two very nice kits parked out side (one looked like a Dax and the other was a Southern Roadcraft?). I saw five replica’s at the evening, who else went?.

I wish I had my camera, did anyone take any photo’s

John.
