Jag front suspension?

Hi all

What years do jag 4pot calipers come from? Is it just the caliper thats differant or would other bits differ.

I've been given a complete front setup still on the subframe, but I cant tell if its two or four (I haven't looked properly yet I only got it late last night). My gut feeling is that its a 2.

PS its off an '85

Thanks
Gary

Gary

Can't see from the picture, but calipers where 4 or 3 pot, not 2.

P.S looking again, they could be 3, if you can take bigger picture, I will be able to tell you

Gary

You will be able to see if they are 4 by the shape of the carrier, if they have 4 lumps as per enclosed picture, if one side only has 1 lump, they are 3 piston.

Re: Jag front suspension?

Does it matter whether its 3 or 4, particularly running a smaller V8?

Re: Jag front suspension?

It's all about the total cross sectional area of the pistons, the greater the section then the more pressure is applied to the brake pad against the disc. :thumb:
4 pots better than 3, 6 better than 4 etc.
On basis that a Jaguar is an awful lot heavier than a Cobra replica even 2 or 3 pot calipers will stop it quite nicely.
