Paperwork Question (V627/1)

Hi,

I'm filling in the "Built up Vehicle inspection report - V627/1" and am not sure how honest I'm supposed to be

I've got a rover V8 and it's Engine number appears on the Jag V5 (had to put it in to make sure it worked your worship }> )

Under the "major components" is

engine.........srl num...origin...make...receipt
transmission...srl num...origin...make...receipt

Question? Is it OK to put down Rover as the Make for both or should it be Jag? (or doesn't it matter a jot).

Thanks

Jim

RE: Paperwork Question (V627/1)

If the engine was registered on the V5 as being in the Jag then the origin of the engine is from the JAG, this must be so. Number of the engine in your car must correspond to the number on the paperwork, it will be checked. The transmission is Jag as are brakes etc. I checked my Rover engine in my Jag before I stripped it and now I have a nice shiny S reg on my AK.

regards
Kev

RE: Paperwork Question (V627/1)

Yup - having had the foresight to check your engine ran by dropping it into the Jag donor, and changing the V5 details to suit, your engine/gearbox origin is now Jag. You did change the engine cc and gearbox (auto to manual?) details at the same time, didn't you?
Funny - do you know I did exactly the self same thing? Amazing what lengths we builders will go to just to hear our engines run.

RE: Paperwork Question (V627/1)

I was wise...but not that wise x(

the model type still says 5.3 XJ12 L Auto 4 door saloon.

but the eng no. and capacity are correct (RV 8, 3500cc)

Is the transmission an issue (guessing I've got enough points anyway)?

Rgds

Jim

RE: Paperwork Question (V627/1)

Beware builders

I had my car inspected last week after submitting a Built up Inspection Report,
the inspector who I know from two previous builds is no dummy and knows when he is being conned.(His word is Gospel) I had no problems as I used enough parts from the donar.

Why not build it to the book and buy a complete donar with V5, a new chassis and body and you have all the points to qualify for an age-related plate.

Don't know what other parts you have, but in my view, you want to get all relevant details as correct as you can.
As mentioned above, the VRO guys are no dummies, but if all the numbers and details match up, they will usually play the game.

RE: Paperwork Question (V627/1)

My GD scored .5 front suspension 1 for rear axle .5 for the steering column and 1 for the gearbox (Why blokey thought the Tremec came from a Jag I don't know - but then it is invisible on a vehicle sitting on its wheels !) You only need 2 points for the age related plate. :+
