Feels good today...

Today, after spending so much time at the weekend building the suspension, brakes etc, I had dismantle it all today much to my dismay....

Anyway, after dismantling it to do the camber, castor measurments and stuff, spend all afternoon messing and twiddling....

1st thing I found was that using a photocopy of the camber castor gauge is only good if you check to make sure that it is in fact square... I needed to trim some off each side to make the centre line square....

After levelling the chassis, removing front brakes and suspension, loosenging bolts, moving shims numerous times and eventually making the 5.5 to 6.0 degrees etc, I now have all 4 corners as close as they could be...

The bit that makes me feel good is the fact that I am now happy to put the split pins on each wheel hub and front lower wishbone knowing that I almost certainyl do not need to take them of again...

I also managed to fit the brake pipes and fuel pipes... Next job is to clip them all down and tighten them all for final... making the pipes is not easy... 2 lengths i managed to kink so did them again to make good...

looking forward to getting the engine in soon, hopefully before the end of this week...

Goldie

Well done, I was told not to tighten the lower wisbone nuts fully untill the car was on its wheels at correct ride heightl, obviously not to put undue twisting on the rubbers.

Re: Feels good today...

goldie,

you're at the same stage as me. i'm in the middle of brake, fuel and clutch pipes.
I would agree with mike, especialy if your using nylon bushes.

hoping to get engine and box in soon, just have to dial in the bellhousing first

Rich

Re: Feels good today...

Thanks for that guys.

I understand what you are saying about not tightening until on the wheels.... The way I did it was to tighten the castlelated nut as to a point where I could get the split pin in... ie, it is as loose as possible.. If it were any looser I would not be able to get the pin in... I guess when it is on the road I can remove the split pin and tighten up etc... But for now I feel safer putting the pin in ready for the road...

I would be happy to see my engine in by the end of the week..!!!

Cheers

Carl..
