Progress Report - GD 224

Got the body shell on today. Looking like a proper car. Think i'll put a cushion in it tomorrow so i can sit in it and make 'brrrmming' noises

(Oh and before anyone comments, no those aren't the final wheels, just junk ones from the XJS, and yes the body is sitting a bit to far back. Bolts not in yet)

Re: Progress Report - GD 224

I know its blue. I tried, honestly, but it just came out;

Andy : What colour would you like ?

Me : Rrree... Rrrree.... GReeee.... BLUE

Andy : Ahh a very , er, popular choice.

D'oh. Still, it'll match the 1/18 model i have sitting on the TV The NEXT one will be something a little different..

Hi GM.
I like the S+M gear hanging on the wall, maybe we should get together for a swingers S+M evening.
At last, pictures of your car coming together......So when's your site getting updated???

Re: Progress Report - GD 224

OK about time i updated this thread.

Took the beast out of the garage for the first time today. Not under its own power, more under gravity power. Getting it back in was a bugger. Boy are these things heavy to push!!

Anyhow, gave me the chance to sweep out the garage.

Just need to fit the windscreen & hydraulics (and straighten the tail pipes) and i'm in business.

Re: Progress Report - GD 224

Progress update:

Filled the clutch with fluid, bled the system, pumped the pedal to discover that the connector on the bulkhead end of the flexible clutch pipe is not the same design as standard brake pipe flared ends and hence doesn't seal. Quick mopping up of B&C fluid, 'modifying' with angle grinder and file and it now works. See me in 12 months and i'll have a left leg Arnie Schwarzenegger would be proud of.

Filled the brake reservoir up and can back to it today to find a pool of B&C under the back axle.   Something to look at tomorrow.

Interior now fitted, tennis ball growing on me, perhaps i should keep it

Not much more to do now, just as well as time is running out!

Re: Progress Report - GD 224

Last pre SVA milestone reached,

The wheels have arrived and there's no more (large amounts) of money we have to spend, thanks god. No doubt it will be a steady drain on resources from now on, (if only for petrol), but no more cheques of the size to make a grown man weep.

Tomorrow mornings job is pretty well sorted then, if they stay there after SWMBO wakes up i'm a dead man...
