for all that have asked (and all that haven't)

here is the progress so far.................I just seem to be forever waiting for suppliers to deliver, have I just been unlucky or is this the norm?

Gauges 6 - 8 weeks...THAT WAS 4 MONTHS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Body 6 months...........Pick it up at the weekend 3 MONTHS OVERDUE

got the brake lines in at the second attempt............wrong end fittings supplied, superb response from Peter Walker at Dax, repacements sent immediatly...still 1 week delay:thumb:

Re: DE Dion progress so far

hi Kev
black Dax powdercoat which was value for money......then I had the bright idea to apply Ali tape to the engine bay area (same as used on military aircraft engine bays) and it looked ok so decided to do the rest of the chassis as it wont chip like the powder coat (in fact when I peeled the tape off in some areas because I was not happy with the results the powder coat came off!!?) and is extra protection...........however there were quite a few times when I wished that I had not started thinking...it can be dangerous!!!!!!!

Hi John,

Took me a while to find the pics of the bodyshell. Thought you'd posted in the forum rather than on your gallery.

Looking good though.

Hi John,
Can you be more detailed about the aluminium tape type and the way of application?
I have and old DAX 86 and the frame will look great with this type of tape.
Is possible to get in blue? (Anodized cobalt blue)
How did you apply it around the weld lines, inside corners and when you have different of levels?
I don't see any seams! Perfect JOB.
Regards,

as far as I know the tape is only available in natural, it can be polishished and looks quite good...........however it is prone to damage as it is quite soft, it will absorbe impact from stone chips unlike powdercoat wich will chip off, it is quite easy to repair without loss of appearence

PM me if you are still interested and I will write you a photographic guide on how to apply it easily (I found out the hard way!!)
