Does anyone live in a worse country then me?

Hi,

here I am to make my statement that I will not be building my Cobra replica.
The reason for this is that I live in this FU(%ED up country where import laws say that you can not import a car which is more then 3 years old, and that you can only import a car part for which you can prove that you already posses the car that the part is originaly intended for and that you are importing it as a spare part.
So now I just have to buy a new corvette and an original Shelby Cobra and I am on my way.

Well, guess who will be applying for a green card (or whatever it is called) soon. Democracy my 'behind'... screw this new government. $@#*(*&)(*

Sorry all for my foul language but this is the least bad way I could express my anger and dissapointment.
All I can do is curse the fact that I was born here and not somewhere else.

Thanks to all for the previous help.

Regards,
Baja

Makes me feel almost happy about good old Sweden. Cobras must be built as "amateur built vehicles". Similar process as UK SVA but with some differences (Swedish process optimised for fancy Hot Rods, not sports cars). Some major PITA; 87 db noise limit, max 15kW engine power per 100 kg vehicle weights. Owner must build his own vehicle etc.

Hew bowtie,

does that mean you're limited to 150kw (whats that in bhp ?) for a 1 tonne car, and also if you have to have built the car you own, does that mean you can't sell it ?!!

1 kW = 1.36 BHP

I live in Serbia and Montenegro (or Yugoslavia, the name changed recently)

Re: Does anyone live in a worse country then me?

150 x 1.36 = 204 bhp per tonne

Blimey, with a maximum power like that it barely worth building. Can you do a sneeky, fit a totally de tuned engine, and then after the test bolt on the good bits ?

Oh and Baja, why not buy a turnkey GD or Dax etc with a brand new '54' registration? Gets past the three year old limit. :thumb: :thumb:

The weight includes driver, spare wheel, full tank and tools (I better keep a garage jack in the trunk). Gives me less than 250bhp to make it pass through registration (thats why I am using a 1975 CSB with cast iron smog heads). Will be swapped after registration... Will have to rebuild the exhaust system too...

I have to build the car myself (not allowed to hire a pro like Dave) but I am free to sell it when it's finished... Go figure...

Re: Does anyone live in a worse country then me?

Ps. I know Swedish Super 7 builders that have registered their vehicle weight with their cars loaded with hidden led bars and their wheels filled with water! Stupid but quite funny...

Re: Does anyone live in a worse country then me?

The 3 year limit is only on a used (already built) car. The problem is that you can not import any parts unless you own a car that they are originally intended for.

Re: Does anyone live in a worse country then me?

Looks like you have a choice:

Buy a completed under 3 year old Dax GD etc and ship it out or

Slap Ford badges on it and pretend its a Mundano.
