Space heaters. Good or Bad?

Hi Guys, with the weather getting colder thought about buying a small space heater but was advised against it as they cause really bad condensation apparently, is this true or false?

If not a space heater then what, I have a garage 5m x 6m so needs something fairly powerful. Is there an electric heater out there suitable for the job?

Hi John.

Any heater that burns Gas or Oil will create water/condensation as a by product. Any electric heater will be better, However the level of heat should not be allowed to deminish to much as you will also get condensation, Best leave it on a low setting 24/7

Re: Space heaters. Good or Bad?

Thanks Chris, I do have central heating in the garage but the radiator is not sufficiently big enough to warm the garage up quickly, it is there mainly to keep the chill off hence the reason for wanting to get something to give it a boost when you first go in.

Re: Space heaters. Good or Bad?

Hi John

I've got a large oil fired space heater, which I use to get the garage (6m x 6m) heated quick, only need it on for 5 mins and the garage is boiling and no sign of condensation as it's not on long enough.

I also have a dehumidifier running all winter.

Re: Space heaters. Good or Bad?

Hi,
we purchased a halogen heater, which does the job, even on 400 watt low setting it warms a 15 by 18 garage up. Failing that rub mustard on your nether regions which has the same affect.
