Classic Replicas builder seeks other...

Got a Classic Replicas cobra about a year ago. Only found this site today even though I joined the club when I got it!? What's the quickest anyone's built one of these and are there many about?

Re: Classic Replicas builder seeks other...

You've come to the right place to find like minded souls. What age of CR have you bought? Is it a modern CR or one of the older models?
Cheers

Don't have original recipt for the kit but i believe its a 1998 version with the flared front arches and the deep ridges from the mould misallignment... Sierra running gear with Rover V8.

Is it the one with the round transmission tunnel and fibre glass floor.

Re: Classic Replicas builder seeks other...

That sounds scary... no it's the one with the 80 x 40 mm box section and the 5mm steel plate, gently rusting in patches and the useless manual with indistinguishable pictures! Must have been a fair few incarnations so?

Re: Classic Replicas builder seeks other...

sounds like similar frame to ours, but ours is based on a cortina. We got a manual of sorts, still trying to work out which way up it is, the pics and words blur into each other.
cheers

Re: Classic Replicas builder seeks other...

had a poke in your garage... don't have any pics of mine at that stage and still have to upload any. rudimentary structure looks similar but yours looks a lot lighter... i've got 5mm plate footwells and dash support structure and the front suspension is fabricated inch box frame. And it's nowhere near a shiny as yours (except for the hubs which I have finished assembling this minute!).

Re: Classic Replicas builder seeks other...

Hi
when you get some pics I would like to have a look, if I can be of any help just send a pm. It has taken 18 months for me to get this far, just putting the engine in now, the wiring loom is ready, so I can finaly see some light at the end of the tunnel.
cheers
Kevin

Re: Classic Replicas builder seeks other...

Thanks Rocco...nice work with the site, particularly the links!
Am realising that I am quite far on in some respects if somewhat erratic in my approach. I've atarted my engine running with the key in the ignition (even though it was only a trial assembly and I've no manifolds!) but haven't addressed some serious issues.
Put up a few pics of the problem areas.
Thanks for your interest Kevin, and best of luck.
