What Size Wheels Do I Have?

Sounds a silly question I know but here is why I am confused.

Tyre sizes are 255/45/R17 & 235/45/R17
I thought that the R17 meant that they were 17" - Is that correct?

I just measured the outer rim diameter and it was 18".

17's. The rim bit is to stop your tyres falling off!

Re: What Size Wheels Do I Have?

Cheers Dave.

I was looking at this in relation to sorting the speedo settings.
I checked the speedo magnets today and there is only 1 there.
Also checked the diff - it is a 3.54 powerlock.

Can you let me know the best setting for the speedo dip switches.
Is this done by some kind of calculation?

Cheers

Re: What Size Wheels Do I Have?

Hi Rodders.
Set the 10 switches to the off position...And don't touch anything else!!!!!
Because of your diff ratio the closest you can get with one magnet will be 5% out (Speedo reading less that you are doing................just remember that!!!).
Or wait for the post man

Cheers M8 but I bought some at the Dax openday but haven't fitted them yet as I'm not good at tinkaring and need to build up to it. I tend to end up having to pay someone to put right what I've F++++d up. Just thought that might have been an easy way out.

Re: What Size Wheels Do I Have?

Hi Rodders
I had the car jacked up yestrday checking the diff and looking for the magnets. It is pretty easy to find where to fix the new magnets. Here is a pic showing the sensor and where the magnets go on the propshaft (where it bolts to the diff). It is a bit fuzzy but you will get the idea.
