A smile a mile wide

It's been a very good day
After spending yesterday wiggling the loom through the bulkhead and figuring out what goes where, I started to connect the engine electrics this morning. Then, with shaking fingers I put the battery into the bulkhead slot, connected the -ve, gave myself a huge shock when I nearly welded the spanner to the bulkhead connecting the +ve.
Turned the key one position - nothing, next position - I hear the fuel pump start whirring - leave it a few seconds until the filter is full. Third position - the engine turns over - heart in mouth now, but I leave it cranking over and over - 15 seconds - nothing. So I turn off - Aah - forgot to engage the choke. Try again, 5 secs - nothing, 10 secs - nothing then RROOAARR!!!!!!! . Jeez, what a wonderful noise!! My wife, who was hanging Xmas cards up inside the house, jumped out of her skin. I quickly turned off as I hadn't adjusted the throttle cable, so it was running on nearly 1/4 throttle. By now, the shakiness in my fingers had been replaced by joy, pure joy.
By now, I had been joined by the family, so grabbed the camcorder, and with my wife pointing it in roughly the right direction, started her up again. This time, though a very smooth burble, but I couldn't resist it, I had to blip the throttle a couple of times With the neighbours windows rattling loose, I reluctantly switched off

It's taken a month, but I'm well chuffed to get to this stage! Now, to finish off running the electrics, and get the body on before Xmas !

Rich <- that's me, that is !
