Beware New SVA Rule.

Hello good people. I thought I would share with you guys some experience that northern Cobra Club member Arthur Nasey found when he went for his SVA last week.

He had bought and fitted to his car the boot hinges from S&J motors that are on the supplier list from AK. I have also been informed that this company also supply "europa". Don't know how true that is but anyway...

His car failed on these hinges. But the worst is yet to come. He tried to stick some foam over them whilst there.

This is NO LONGER ALLOWED. Apparently the rule changed a week ago last Friday and only Permanent features will be radius tested.

I recommend speaking to your local SVA centre before you take you car.

Regards

RE: Beware New SVA Rule.

sounds like a pretty harsh tester - I've got those hinges - no foam and no problem at the SVA.

Glad I'm going Internally for the boot hinge then. Which test station was this Austrian decorater working at.

I do agree with the foam thing though - it's kind of taking the p1ss, obviously you're not going to drive round with bits of foam stuck on so the tester is right to use his common sense (or now apply the rules) and fail it.

If that is the case then I may just take it "as is" and see.

Just hope that it doesn't fail on these alone.

Charlie

You can speak to AK who will need to produce a boot lid with a two mounting points to allow you to mount brackets to them internally. Then you fabricate the rest yourself. Essentially its a copy of the Bonnet hinge arrangement modified.

JP

Apparently i think that there is only one other with internal boot hinges! Go on prove me wrong

One other replica, or one other AK with internal boot hinges?

If it is one other replica, the GD has internal boot hinges, and I am sure it isn't the only one.

I think Crendon's do too - but I'll just count that as an AK variant :P
