Toyota g/box - Ford 302?

Hi all. Newbie looking for some advice/ opinions.

I am in the process of building a Dax and I'm at the point where I want to get my gearbox sorted before I go any further. I have a Ford 302 to mate it to and have been looking at the usual TKOs and T5s, but I have come across a 'box from a Toyota Supra Turbo, the R154.

Has anyone had any experience with these when they're bolted to a V8? Has anyone fitted one in a Dax?

Any words of wisdom gratefully received.

Mark.

Cheers Alastair,

Looks like its back to the TKO. I don't want to be changing boxes if I don't have to.

Re: Toyota g/box - Ford 302?

Hi

I had a Toyota R154 in my RAM, 408 stroker used for Race only, 500+ftlb, friction plate from Helix (they do a road going one) cover plate from Centreforce belhousing you can get from http://www.classicconversions.co.uk/fordv8.htm and the kit includes friction plate slave cylinder arm etc!!, strong as ya like!!! but I did have the smaller box on my 302 when I went to the 408 it blew the A*se out of it, But I liked it that much that I'm building a new RAM trophy "R" for this season and going with the same R154 setup,

Cheers

Rob
