Re: which cooling fan?

Hi, had a bad experience with a 16" Pacet bought through Dax, but apparently they had a bad batch with a problem. I replaced this with two 13" Heavy Duty fans from Kenlowe. Great customer service, quick delivery (next day I think, if its in stock), comes with a set of metal brackets that easily adapt to connect with the existing radiator brackets. Not cheap, but then they more than do the job - one on its own is sufficient to cool in normal traffic queues. I have one thermostatically controlled, the other on a switch.

Personally I don't like the idea of being stranded because I only have one fan and it gives up (hence my bad experience with the Pacet), and on hot days two might become necessary anyway - particularly if you have a BB. Kenlowe also do single 16"s which are apparently sufficient for a small block. Give them a call, they'll talk you through choosing.

Re: which cooling fan?

I went for a single 16" kenlow fan, with a dash light to show when its working and a manual over-ride switch to bypass the thermostatic switch should it be necessary.
Mounted in front of the rad, it also helps protect the rad from debris.
This is for an RV8 powered Sumo

Cheers

David

Re: which cooling fan?

Thanks for the replies, I like the idea of two fans, with one as a backup or to use when the temp dictates, with a swith to activate independently, as always appreciate your time. Dave

Re: which cooling fan?

I too can recommend kenlowes. I bought a car 25 years ago that had had an engine fire. The twin kenlowe fans were completely melted but I managed to get them off and the motors were fine! I bought new blades from the guys at Burchetts Green and the same units are still going fine and installed on my Cobra. Good kit, and yes, very helpful and professional outfit.
