Wind wings and rear view mirrors

Can anyone help with a clear photo or the relative position of these together mounted onto the screen pillars.
What should be a simple job probably has some horrible unforseen problems.
My pillars have two M4 tapped holes 15 mm apart horizontaly which do not appear to be needed for either of the above.
Thanks Trevor

Re: Wind wings and rear view mirrors

Trevor

You will need to drill and tap holes for the mirrors at least. Windwings will not pass SVA so should be fitted afterwards if required. There is a detailed drawing on the GD owners website which shows where to fit the mirrors. The windscreen frame is chromed brass so you will need to take care when drilling and tapping as it is quite brittle. You will also need to detach the windscreen from the pillars in order to drill and tap the holes.

Best regards

Glyn

Re: Wind wings and rear view mirrors

Trevor.

Wind wings go on the bottom and third hole (Large block at the bottom) Mirrors in second hole. The two 4mm holes are for the hood bow catches, If you have a hood :thumb:

Thanks for the photo that really helps - I have to now check on space needed for the hood catch and make sure it doesn`t foul with these items.
Glyn
I have tried to get information from the GD owners site without success many times so must be asking it the wrong questions.
I would be really grateful if someone can get me to that detailed drg.

Re: Wind wings and rear view mirrors

Trevor.

The hood catches fit ok. If you look hard you can just see them on mine :thumb:

Charlie.
Got the Windwings from Pilgrim (local to me), although I think they are fairly standard. Having chipped the glass twice! trying to fit them, I decided a face full of toughened glass wasn't for me, and bought some acrlylic sheet from B&Q and made my own. Not ideal, but I can always replace them at a later date. I believe there may be a problem with the Sva mirrors if you want to fit Sidescreens though.

Re: Wind wings and rear view mirrors

I have both SVA mirrors, and GD wind deflectors, all GD supplied..........all work fine with no problems.

I think any mirror mounted on the screen will limit the amount of space for the sidescreen to move when you open the door

Jim
Thanks for the drawing - I have finally managed to get into the GD owners forum , nearly finnished the build though ! , thanks to help from Andy I found the same drawing today.
I guess my listing got lost in the ether so have not had access to the important bit of the site since I started.
Thanks to everyone for the input.
