Side pipes for dax

Hi Lads & Lasses

I am presentley costing to manufacture my own S/S sidepipes & headers for my Dax, has anyone got any contacts that can bend or form 2" tube at a 75 & 130 centre line radius, the side pipes should be quite easy to produce, but the header pipes maybe a bigger problem.

I could use 2" dairy bends but I wont to avoid butt welding for the 4 main pipes out of the body.

Plus has anyone used any stainless headers from the States & done a mod to fit, plus I have an extended footwell so this is another problem.

Any advise would be great.

Cheers
John

John, this guy will make up whatever you want. Mike @ Tube Engineers Ltd Nr Market Rasen Linc's 01673 862286 first class job and reliable. I had this whole lot made up 5" box with Shields & 4 rubbers per side including postage VAT and front pipe and connector to headers for £461:00. The boxes are made so you can re-fill, they don't get hot, rolled edge on tail pipe for SVA, he will also fit molding round the edge of shield for SVA if required.

My point is for that money is it worth all the aggravation? Osgood

Re: Side pipes for dax

John, don't know if you've seen the Dax side pipes but the 2" secondaries also have a reducer in them to get down to 1.75" primaries as I think you would struggle to fit anything bigger to a SBC although you don't actually specify what engine you have.

Re: Side pipes for dax

Hi John

Thanks for the feedback, yes their is a reducer on the 4 secondaries, but I am at this moment looking for dairy bends of 1 3/4" for the primaries, no luck at the moment, I dont think they produce them. Their is 1 1/2" available but I dont wont to go their, plus I am useing a chev 350, I found a supplier that does all the tube, even the perforated stainless.

I work in the pharmaceutical industry & I'm used to seeing perfect tig welds, polished in, & upto know the only option is to do them myself or find a good contact.

Cheers
John

Re: Side pipes for dax

Your correct about the dairy bends in that I have never found a supplier for 1.75" only whole & half sizes.
Custom chrome sell the mandrel bends in this size along with the manifold flanges for the SBC if you wish to fabricate your own. About £260 - £300 for enough to fabricate the manifolds all in.

Re: Side pipes for dax

Just popped across the road to the exhaust factory and they do have bends in 1.75" stainless (44.5 mm T304). They would be NZ$31 each (divide by 2.6 for ukp) plus postage etc. They also have laser cut sbc flanges at NZ$324 per pair in stainless and 4:1 collectors in stainless at NZ$33 each.

Re: Side pipes for dax

It's just a factory, the prices I quoted would be from me. I marked them up slightly to make it worth my while ordering/packing/dispatching etc. Shipping would need some research to see what's viable.

Re: Side pipes for dax

Hi Dave

I had a quote from Spectrum about £8.00 each, but I will ask John for a quote at ABC as he is going to cut the flanges.

Cheers
John
