changing boxes

Folks,

Can anybody tell me excactly what it is I need to make this work? I have looked through the forums but can't find the answer...

I have a 1975ish Ford 302 which is currently fitted with an auto box and I have got myself a Getrag 265. Apart from the adaptor plate which I believe is available from Ken at AK, what else do I need? I am basically looking for a list of part numbers from someone who has already done this.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: changing boxes

Hi mark,

You will probably need:

new/altered prop shaft
new gearbox mounts
alterations to wiring loom for reverse gear sender
alterations to speedo cable
possibly new hole for gear stick

Re: changing boxes

Ahhhh, a flexplate. Never had anything to do with auto boxes so I wasn't sure about the flywheel.
Does anyone know off the top of their head if the original bellhousing can be used?

Re: changing boxes

My TH350 autobox bell housing is part of the gearbox casting. I'm guessing you have a Ford C4 trans. This loose 'bellhousing' propably won't fit anything other than a C4 trans.

Re: changing boxes

I would say the lists above cover pretty much everything although a swear box, loads of wonga, time and some sticky plasters should get the job done
