Which Soft top?

Can anyone advise as to the differences between the different types of hood available and where they can be obtained (other than the manufacturers). Car is a Pilgrim Sumo so unfortunately the Europa item won't fit.

Why should I go for the more expensive mohair or double duck over the cheaper vinyl?

Re: Which Soft top?

Robin

I have used the Double Duck type which appears to be 2 layers of textile sandwiching a rubber layer. This gives good water repellance whilst maintaining a good shape even after being stored for a while. Some say that this type can be prone to cracking of the rubber layer if stored for sometime whilst creased.

Don't know about mohair and the cheaper vinyl seems ok for infrequent use.

You really have 2 options in where to obtain the hood:-

1. Direct from Pilgrim and it will be tailored to suit the cars exact shape.
2. Custom made by a local trimmer (likely to be higher cost but a better fit).

Seeing as you, hopefull, won't use it that much, I would suggest the Pilgrim option.

Re: Which Soft top?

Hi Robin,

With Double Duck you start with a nicely fitting hood but after a few wettings and especially when its cold it has a tendancy to shrink.

I've struggled in the past trying to get my hood on in the cold & wet almost pulled my screen up out of the body.

If I were you I'd go with the Mohair.
