Oil pressure Take-off

I have some AutoMeter gauges. The oil pressure gauge has an electronic sender that is like a little miniture beans can, with a screw thread on it...

I know that I have a few places to install this, but the place where I want it to go, at the back of the inlet manifold (350 chevy)... The trouble I have is that the screw thread on this thing just aint long enough...

ie... it is like 0.5" long.... where it fits, there is also the inlet manifold... and the manifold is snug up to this hole...

For me to get the pressure sensor, the thread needs to maybe another 0.5" longer...

I understand that this is 1/8" NPT thread... I am wondering if anyone else has come across this problem and how they got around it...??

Cheers

Carl..

Re: Oil pressure Take-off

Had exactly the same problem a while back on my 350 SBC with Edlebrock performer heads and inlet manifold.

Newbie 1st post members advice req'd

The solution was simple, but a t-piece from Real Steel. Use the block plug to plug the unwanted hole in the side of the t-piece and shove the sender in the top. (Or vice versa)

The oil temp sender then goes down under the filter.
