Flexi Brake hoses for Jag Caliper - Help

Hi All

I've bought my flexi hoses with male ends. When I put them on I realised that they would obstruct the coils spring. It seems like I need a 'Banjo fitting' for the caliper side that will take the hose away from the spring.

Firstly, can I buy a BF with a female end to fit the male of the flexi? (I've heard the hoses come made up with the BF in place). Or can I use the original Jag bracket and fixed hose setup? Or make my own bracket?

What have you done?

Thanks
Gary

Re: Flexi Brake hoses for Jag Caliper - Help

Hi Gary,

I had exactly the same problem. Bought my stainless steel hoses from Ward Engineering, which came with male bulkhead fittings on each end.

The hoses supplied are '200 series' stainless steel braided hose, Merlin Motorsports sell the banjo fittings and bolts for this series hose and the fittings swopped straight over without disturbing the compression part of the joint on the hose.

Hope this makes sense, I am assuming you have purchased stainless steel flexies.

Regards,

Neil.

I went with the AK supplied Goodrich Hoses. They came complete with angled banjo fittings, bolts, washers and locknuts. Saved a minefield of seaching

Pete,
How recent is your photograph? I notice the steering arm is not yet fitted, so you will find it will foul your copper pipe, which will need a very tight bend on it where it connects into the caliper. HTH

My Jag came with the bracket for fixing the pipes.

V8bassman is right when he says you need a tight bend to miss the cast steering arm.

This is a Dax so it may be completly different to the AK and the GD.

Craig.

I agree, but I went to cut cost from £65 to £20. Only £45 but its starting to mount up. the only mistake I made is not knowing about the Banjo/Bracket to take the hose away from the spring. It'll not take long to make a good bracket.

Thanks for the replies
Gary

V8Bassman,

thanks, but the GD steering arm is a modified item that goes forwards, and is already fitted in the picture - you just can't see it

Cheers
