I'm not familiar with the adapter set-up, do you end up with two sets of gaskets and a metal plate?

Re: leaking rocker covers rover v8 with chevy covers

I was considering going this route but decided it was too much potential trouble. I would fit the plates to the head with polyurethane sealer (tw*t to remove) and the rocker covers with a std gasket of whatever type. :thumb:

Re: leaking rocker covers rover v8 with chevy covers

the adapter plates are fixed directly to the heads so will need a good quality sealant using between them,it also helps to stick the gaskets to plate surfaces to get the correct alignment
i had trouble sealing my ford rocker covers(no comments please)and ended up sealing the gasket to the head surface to get a leak free joint

Re: leaking rocker covers rover v8 with chevy covers

Russ,

I actually made my own from billet Al.

The Pop Brown ones are machined castings, if I remember correctly. Firstly are they flat? Are they porous?

Mine fitted exactly as Craigh suggests, silicon gasket to direct to head surface, std Ford cork gasket to rocker covers. Never leaked a drip.

Re: leaking rocker covers rover v8 with chevy covers

thanks russ
no they arent flat they are slightly bowed, but when you tighten them down they seem to fit ok,it seems like its only leaking from where the bolts hold the plate to the head.maybe the gasket sealer ive used isnt oil resistant(although it says it is)

if anyone has any other ideas, please post as i need to get this sorted on saturday, however many attempts it takes me

Re: leaking rocker covers rover v8 with chevy covers

Hi Russ
I have exactly the same set up on a rover. I use reusable rubber gaskets(obtained from V8 tuner) sealed with silicone gasket sealant between adaptor plates and heads-Rover cork ones will do if in good nick- and similar gaskets (obtained from pop browns) between rocker covers and adaptors (not using silicone seal)
This works for me
Good luck

roger
