Ford 351 Windsor Oil Sump

Hi All,

Its been a long time since I have posted - I hope you are all well.
My build has suffered significant delay due to financial issues but my Ford 351 Windsor engine build, (stroked to 396) is still destined to go into an AK 427.
Therefore I am after some advise regarding oil sumps for my mill. There are dozens of sumps on the market but I need to be sure before I buy the sump is suitable for general driving & occassional track days & it will fit into an AK427 chassis.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Martyn

Re: Ford 351 Windsor Oil Sump

If you are planning on track time then I would go for a baffled sump at least.Size wise it all depends on youe engine bay.One of the AK boys should be able to help on that one.

Re: Ford 351 Windsor Oil Sump

I suspect that what is known as a "front" sump will be preferable - that is one where the "deep part" is at the front of the engine, so long as this accords with the AK chassis. Baffling etc. definitely worthwhile. Also bear in mind dipstick and oil temp sensor locations.
