Engine start up?

Hi Guys

When you all started your engine for the first time. Did you have the exhausts on. I would presume there is a hell of a noise without them?

That leads to another question. Do I need to sent the car off to get the exhaust built (Underslung SS)? If so, I would presume that I could just send the chassis off (engine and running gear fitted)?

Here's another. AK or Shinybitz (or other) for the exhaust. No deformation here please

Thanks again
Gary

Re: Engine start up?

Hi,
I got AK to make up my underslung exhausts. I had the engine delivered to them prior to picking up the kit, so that it could be measured. I would give them a call. they are always helpful.

I would make sure you have the exhausts fitted before you start up the engine,, at lesat the down pipies.

Mark

Re: Engine start up?

I started my RV8 without manifolds or exhausts and yes it was very loud! Not to mention the flames and the exhaust fumes

It's fine for test firing, but you'll need at least manifolds if you want to run it for any period.

Re: Engine start up?

I'd go for Ken re exhausts, he did a lovely job on mine and he'll have all the jigs, measurements and lots of practice etc.

Cheers,

Tony

Re: Engine start up?

If you go for either AK or Shiny bits then they will need your car to make them up.

Re: Engine start up?

Gary there is another option and that is to speak to Mark, a member of the site and cob owner who just happens to make exhausts etc for a living, only know coz I dealt with him recently on an unrelated matter, but he lives up your way, Preston I believe. His handle on here is mark. Good luck whichever way yougo. Ps if you do speak to him tell him I suggested him as when I need some new bits I might get a discount........

Re: Engine start up?

Ken at AK made me up a lovely set of underslungs, which i insisted (yes i am awkward) be ready for collection for when i collected the kit, all i had to do was tell ken which engine i was to have and promise him i wasnt going to change my mind. Exhaust fitted beautifully first time, saved trailing a chassis anywhere, and where better to get the exhuast made than at the manufacturer,, a real "OEM" part so to speak. :thumb:
